Jackson school board approves hiring high school assistant principal

ACTION: Accepted the resignation of Jackson Memorial Middle School Assistant Principal Christine Adolph. The board also approved hiring her as the new assistant principal at Jackson High School.

DISCUSSION: Adolph will replace Matt Ziders, who was hired at the March board meeting as the new high school principal. Jeff Kracker, the current high school principal, will be replacing retiring Athletic Director Dan Michel.

OTHER ACTIONS:

  • Accepted a $10,000 donation from Meijer. Store director Marco Gomez was joined by Meijer’s Cleveland location market director Ken Barclay to present the check to the district. The money will be used by the new K-6 art program.

  • Honored numerous winter sports athletes and coaches, including Federal League Bowler of the Year Andrew Austin; Federal League swim coach of the year Doug Nist; and the state Final Four girls basketball team.

  • Heard a proposal from Jackson Memorial Middle School Principal Kacy Carter to move the eighth-grade trip to Washington, D.C. from spring to fall next school year. The trip would take place the first week in November which would help with busing and hotels being available.

  • Approved holding the board’s annual retreat from 7:30 to 11 a.m. July 19 at Jackson High School.

  • Authorized two projects at Jackson Memorial Middle School this summer. The first is to convert rooms 150 and 152 to one classroom to accommodate the sixth grade art program. The second is to convert the grounds shop into an athletics team meeting room. Solicitation for bids will begin soon.
