Jackson State football schedule 2023 released, including opener vs South Carolina State

Jackson State football and first-year coach T.C. Taylor will have a tough schedule in 2023

That schedule includes an opener against South Carolina State in a rematch of the 2021 Cricket Celebration Bowl, which South Carolina State won 31-10 to claim the de facto Black national championship. The game will be played Aug. 28 in the MEAC/SWAC Challenge in Atlanta.

Jackson State went 12-1 last season, including an 8-0 conference mark to win the SWAC championship.

Like last season, the Tigers will play their first four games away from home. After playing South Carolina State, JSU takes on Florida A&M on Sept. 3 in the Orange Blossom Classic at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. Jackson State will then visit Southern to open defense of its 2022 SWAC championship on Sept. 9 before visiting Texas State on Sept. 16.
