Jackson Township's Ohio Roasting Company offers specialty coffees, breakfast sandwiches
Ohio Roasting Company opened in October and already has served 42,000 drinks. Located in the old Savor restaurant building, at 4870 Frank Avenue NW in Jackson Township, the coffee shop has been welcomed by the community. The shop was co-founded by Frank Genovese and Mary Genovese. I spoke with co-founder and CEO Frank Genovese to find out more.
“We … are overwhelmed with gratitude,” Frank said. “This community has welcomed us into their daily routine, and we’re determined to continue to improve our offerings and service. … If you enjoy coffee, ours is always changing with new seasons and crops; find the one for you.”
Q. What kinds of coffee do you offer? What are your bestsellers?
A. “We offer many single origin and blend coffees. We serve our house blend (Interstate 77) and rotate other coffees throughout the week. We brew our coffee on a very unique brewing system. There are only two other locations in Ohio that I know of that use the same. The coffee is brewed using an immersion method, and the grounds are extracted several times during the brewing, unlike traditional brewing systems which shower the grounds from above. It’s also amazing to watch. We offer five to 10 coffees as pour overs, as well.
“We have espresso drinks, teas, chai, matcha and natural energy drinks, as well. Drinks are available hot, iced or frozen.”

Q. Do you have any specialty drinks or featured drinks?
A. “We do have several specialty drinks as well as seasonal drink specials. Our menu is available on Facebook.”
Q. Can I purchase bagged coffee? If so, what are the varieties?
A. “Yes, currently from Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, DR Congo, Mexico, Papua New Guinea and Sumatra.”
Q. I see your Facebook mentions food on the menu. What all do you offer?
A. “We offer breakfast sandwiches. Breakfast sliders are amazing. Kings’ Hawaiian rolls, egg, chorizo bacon, smoked Gouda or pepper jack cheese. Oatmeal, bagels, pastries, cookies, etc. Homemade gelato using a continuously churning gelato machine—the only one in Stark County and possibly the state. We feature affogatos, which is gelato served with a shot of espresso or other pour over choices.”

Q. Anything else you want About readers to know about the shop?
A. “Our shop is bright and airy with seating for 56. We have soft seating areas, high and low table seating and plenty of bar seating. The front of our shop is our roastery, where all of our coffee is roasted. There’s bar seating right by the bar for patrons to watch the roasting process while enjoying their beverage.”
“We have a team of the best baristas in Stark County, many with several years experience. Ninety percent of our drinks are served with amazing latte art from this talented team. We are excited for spring and summer to open our patio with seating for 12. We’ll be adding gelato and coffee flights, live music and more. Our drive-thru opened in January and continues to grow.”
