Jacksonville dentist’s office hosts free dental day for kids in the community

A local dentist’s office invited kids in the community to a free dental day.

This first-time event was aimed to give kids a free cleaning but also a smile.

“She felt comfortable right away and she’ll definitely be happy coming back,” said Carly Warren.

Carly Warren said she and her two-year-old daughter were greeted with smiles at west Beach’s dental care.

In celebration of National Children’s Dental Health month, the dentistry held its first free kids’ dental day for children 13 and younger.

This event was aimed to help all the kids in the area keep healthy oral hygiene.

“Kids are a huge part of our community, they are obviously a big part of the future and we wanted to give back and benefit you know, the kids,” said Dental Hygienist Kari Cross.

According to a study from the American Dental Association, around ten percent of children ages two-18 do not have dental benefits.

All patients at West Beaches Dental Care received a free cleaning, exam and x-rays, but also things like a toothbrush and toothpaste to help ensure good oral hygiene at home.

Billy Riley is a dental assistant and said he hopes kids will leave educated and wanting to come back.

“Keeping your teeth healthy for a lifetime but starting that foundation of regular dental visits,” said Riley.

And for Carly, she said she is grateful she could bring her daughter in to get her teeth checked.

“Getting appointments for pediatric dentists is difficult, cause there’s not very many, so being able to come here as a parent is like okay good, we are doing something right, let’s keep going and just make sure her teeth are constantly looked at,” said Warren.
