Jacksonville Jaguars at Los Angeles Chargers: Everything you need to know about Week 3 showdown

Heading West hasn't exactly been a gold rush for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

During their franchise history, the Jaguars are 3-15 on the West Coast against the 49ers, Chargers, Rams and Seahawks.

This week's opponent, the Chargers, have been particularly stingy against the Jaguars. All-time they are 9-3 vs. the Jags, including 5-0 in either San Diego or Los Angeles. The Jags have played the Chargers once since they moved to L.A., losing 39-29 in 2020.

One thing working in the Jags' favor is health. While Jacksonville is essentially injury-free, the Chargers are struggling. QB Justin Herbert is nursing fractured rib cartilage suffered last week against the Chiefs; Star receiver Keenan Allen is questionable after suffering a hamstring injury during Week 1 that had him sitting in Week 2; And also questionable are starting center Corey Linsley and right tackle Trey Pipkins III.

Of course, there's always the looming threat of the Chargers' relentless pass rushers Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa.

This is a chance for the Jags to excel if they can have a complete performance like they had last week against the Indianapolis Colts.

The unfriendly left coast

As stated earlier, the Jaguars have struggled when out west. If they want to be successful, the run game will have to work better than it did in Week 2 vs. the Colts.

It's early, but first place is first place

Sure, a 1-1 record isn't going to cement a place in the postseason. But when you own the only win in your division (and that's with two of the teams having played each other!!) you have to feel good about yourself. The defense is definitely one of the reasons why.

The Colts were taken to school

The Colts weren't supposed to be this bad. Aside from one good quarter in a Week 1 tie with the Houston Texans, they've been a bad team. However, they afforded the Jaguars the opportunity to build some confidence early.
