Doug Pederson won a Super Bowl in his second year as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2017. During the next two seasons he made the playoffs with a record of 9-7. During his fifth year, the team struggled to a 4-12 record and Pederson was fired.

It seemed like a quick ending for a coach who delivered the team its only Super Bowl title.

When the Jacksonville Jaguars hired Pederson earlier this year, they had high hopes he would be able to restore order to a franchise that had been in disarray for a decade, with the past two season perhaps being the worst of them all.

The Jaguars had just one win in 2020, and followed that up with a season where first-year head coach Urban Meyer had embarrassment after embarrassment before being fired after 13 games.

So far, Pederson has not disappointed Jaguars fans. The team could have easily won its first game against the Washington Commanders, and has been one of the most dominant teams in football the past two weeks with wins over the Indianapolis Colts and Los Angeles Chargers.

What will happen Sunday when the Jaguars play the last unbeaten team in the league — Pederson's prior team, the Eagles (3-0)?

To get ready for the game, check out all the coverage from the Times-Union over the past week. We've got you covered with everything you need to know about Jaguars-Eagles.

Jaguars hope to spoil brotherly love

The Jaguars have been preparing for an explosive offense and dominant defense in the Philadelphia Eagles.

Gene's doing good work

Columnist Gene Frenette had a great interview with both Doug Pederson and his wife earlier this week about what Philadelphia meant to them.

He also points out that the Jaguars better not let a little positive national attention go to their heads.
