Jaclyn Hill Got Real About Anxiety With Her 2 Million Fans on Twitter

"Things aren't always as they seem. Remember that."

Beauty vlogger Jaclyn Hill is best known for her best-selling Morphe eye shadow palette and full-coverage foundation routine, not to her mention her years of sharing them with us via her YouTube channel. Hill's astronomical success thanks to YouTube and social media can make it seem like she's one of those "everything's perfect" influencers who are never without a full face of makeup or a brow hair out of place. But today, Hill shared with her 1.84 million Twitter followers just how skewed photos can be.

Reposting a smiley picture from her Instagram, Hill shared the behind-the-scenes story of the captured moment. "FACT: I had an anxiety attack 3 minutes after this photo was taken. For NO reason. Got so dizzy I almost fell out my chair & felt like I couldn’t breath. My boyfriend boxed the food before we could even eat & we bolted out. Things aren’t always as they seem. Remember that!❤️," she wrote.

Her truth — especially shared with such a large platform — is helping to open up the conversation about exactly what anxiety looks like. Commenters are writing in to thank Hill for her honesty and share their own stories about dealing with anxiety.

"Thank you for talking about anxiety. The more we talk about our mental health issues, the less of a monster they become! Anxiety is part of me. The physical symptoms is just adrenaline. And I LOVE adrenaline when it’s invited. So gotta learn to accept it when it’s not," wrote one Twitter user.

"Thank you for being real about this. I too have social anxiety and get very nervous and anxious when I am in a store, restaurant, doctors office, etc. It’s nice to see someone on social media being real instead of acting like their lives are perfect," agreed another.

Hill has spoken about anxiety over the years. During the summer, she pointed out that her anxiety gets "100X worse" during her period. Back in 2016, she took to Twitter on a day when she "woke up with horrible anxiety." And in 2017, she got real with her followers about the stigma of mental health: "People are not comfortable discussing [their] anxiety, depression, OCD, etc because they want to be 'normal' but it IS normal."

Know that if you're dealing with anxiety, you're in good company — and that company knows how to serve a beauty lewk.
