Jags join AFC South in supporting those affected by winter storms

The Jacksonville Jaguars are teaming up with the other teams in the AFC South to help out the Houston community following the winter storms that have swept the state of Texas and surrounding areas. Alongside the Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans, Jacksonville will be giving a joint donation of $100,000 to the Houston/Harris County 2021 Winter Storm Relief Fund.

As of Monday, the aftermath of the storms left 8.6 million people in the state under a boil water notice, and an additional 120,000 had no water at all. The donated funds will support non-profits that assist with plumbing, home repair, temporary housing, and other unmet needs. The assistance will be overseen by the United Way of Greater Houston and the Greater Houston Community Foundation.

The NFL Foundation will match the donation from the AFC South squads, making the total $200,000. Here’s what owners around the decision had to say.

“Houston has endured some difficult times recently, but it always bounces back, and I am confident that will be the case again,” Jaguars owner Shad Khan said in a statement Wednesday. “In the meantime, the Jacksonville Jaguars, the NFL Foundation and our fellow AFC South teams are here to help. Everyone in Jacksonville is a Houston fan today as we get through this together.”

Our thoughts are with everyone affected by these storms during these difficult times. If you would like to donate to the Houston/Harris County 2021 Winter Storm Relief Fund, you can do so here.
