Jaguars roar back, score 20 unanswered in 27-20 win vs. Raiders. Here are our takeaways

This one was different.

Jacksonville put its foot on the pedal and didn't relent until there was no time remaining in the contest Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders. The team came storming back after falling behind quickly to start the contest. The team that couldn't finish this year, did so when it needed to most.

With just 2:25 remaining in the game, Jaguars cornerback Darious Williams made one of the game-sealing plays, breaking up a Derek Carr pass on fourth down, giving Jacksonville the football leading 24-20. The Jaguars scored a field goal with just one minute remaining to go up 27-20.

Jaguars Report Card: Team grades from the win against the Las Vegas Raiders

After giving the Raiders the football back following the FG make, the Jaguars' defense was able to hold Vegas on its desperation play at the end of the contest. After the ball was passed around a few times, rookie linebacker Devin Lloyd eventually came up with the game-sealing fumble recovery, which looked like an interception as he came up with the football on a "pass" from tight end Foster Moreau.

After losing their past five games of the season, the Jaguars entered the competition against the Raiders with plenty of hunger and left with their bellies full of joy after scoring 20 unanswered points to get their first win since September.

After missing the past two games due to a knee injury, Jaguars wide receiver/return specialist was made active, playing in his first game since suffering a knee injury against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 6. Agnew entered the game as questionable after practicing on a limited basis in the lead-up to the game.

The remaining inactive players for Jacksonville included WR Kendrick Pryor, safety Tyree Gillespie, cornerback Tevaughn Campbell, outside linebacker De'Shaan Dixon and offensive lineman John Miller.

On the Raiders' side, though the team was dealing with an illness that spread throughout the building over the past couple of weeks, the majority of their key players were active. However, big-time tight end Darren Waller (hamstring) was deemed inactive prior to the contest after practicing on a limited basis in the lead-up to the game.

A significant number of Raiders fans showed up for the contest, dominating the east side, visiting side of TIAA Bank Field, and showing out in full force to see their team face off against Jacksonville.

Today, the Jaguars did their part in the NFL's year-round Salute to Service initiative, honoring the nation's service members, veterans and their families. The team hosted an Oath of Enlistment Ceremony for more than 160 recruits from all branches of the military. The ceremony was conducted by Lieutenant General Michael Beard.

Jaguars come storming back after being down 17-0

After trailing 17-0 to the Raiders, the Jaguars were able to storm back and eventually take the lead, 24-20, shortly after the start of the fourth quarter. Jacksonville showed resilience beginning with a one-yard score from running back Travis Etienne in the second quarter of the contest with 4:56 remaining.

The Jaguars outscored the Raiders 24-3 as the final 15 minutes ticked off the clock to eventually end the game with a win over Las Vegas, 27-20.

It was an outstanding performance for Jacksonville's offense, which played a spectacular third quarter. Jacksonville outgained Las Vegas 132-22 yards and held onto the football for 11:47 while the Raiders had the ball for just 3:13 during the third quarter.

Though they scored on the other side of the third quarter, the final possession ended with 14 points in just over 15 minutes of the contest for Jacksonville.

Lawrence completed all 10 of his passes for 95 yards and a touchdown during the quarter while receiver Christian Kirk led the way with five receptions for 37 yards and a TD during the third quarter alone.

Lawrence finished the game having completed 25 of 31 passes for 235 yards and one touchdown. Etienne carried the ball 28 times for 109 yards and two touchdowns. Kirk finished with eight receptions for 76 yards and one TD.

The Jaguars ended the game having scored 20 unanswered points. Jacksonville outgained the Raiders 403-321 yards. They had 22 first downs. To end the game, the Jaguars forced the Raiders to punt three times, turn it over on downs once and fumble the football.

Trevor Lawrence keeps drive alive with his legs

Trailing 17-7 and needing a score prior to the end of the half, Lawrence kept the ball on the ground, utilizing his legs for a long gain of 24 yards from the Jacksonville 32-yard-line to the Raiders 44-yard-line. That put the Jaguars near field-goal position, giving them an opportunity to cut the Raiders' lead to just seven points.

After a few more plays, the Jaguars were able to kick the field goal, giving them 10 points on the day and starting the comeback that eventually gave them a lead at the start of the fourth quarter.

Slow start against Raiders caused early concerns for Jaguars

Unlike past weeks, the Jaguars didn't get off to a fast start to begin the game against Las Vegas this week. The team fumbled the football on a poor exchange from Lawrence and RB JaMycal Hasty, giving Las Vegas the early turnover advantage.

Raiders quarterback Derek Carr completed 13 of 17 passes for 199 yards and two touchdowns with 4:50 remaining in the game. Both scores went to standout receiver Davante Adams, who was due for a big game after catching just one pass for three yards a week prior against the New Orleans Saints.

Against the Jaguars prior to the first half ending, Adams was already up to seven catches for 126 yards and two touchdowns. Jacksonville's offense totaled just 48 net yards in the first quarter, while the Raiders offense totaled 119 net yards.

By halftime, the Jaguars cut the Raiders' lead to just 10 points, scoring on a one-yard run by running back Travis Etienne and a 44-yard field goal by Riley Patterson as time expired heading into halftime.

At halftime, Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence completed 10 of 15 passes for 102 yards, while Carr completed 16 of 21 passes for 223 yards and two touchdowns. Adams caught nine passes for 146 yards and two touchdowns.

The Raiders outgained the Jaguars in total net yards with 251 to Jacksonville's 178 though the first half. Still Jacksonville out-gained the Raiders in rushing yards with 76 to 32 yards.

Rookie CB Montaric Brown, LB Chad Muma see extended playing time

The Jaguars began the game with a new face on defense in rookie cornerback Montaric Brown. Brown took the place of veteran CB Tre Herndon on the boundary alongside CB Tyson Campbell when the team was in nickel. Brown entered the game having played just 11 total snaps all season, all on special teams. Today marked the first time Brown played a defensive snap.

Both Brown and Herndon rotated drives throughout much of the first half of the contest. Herndon is playing in place of veteran CB Shaq Griffin who was placed on the team's reserve/injured list on Oct. 26. Griffin won't be eligible to return to play until at least the team's Week 13 game against the Detroit Lions on Dec. 4. He has to miss four games.

Remaining on defense, the Jaguars gave more snaps to rookie linebacker Chad Muma in place of fellow rookie LB Devin Lloyd. Muma played just a few snaps, though, with Lloyd dominating the snap total as the starting LB. Muma has played just 30 defensive snaps thus far this season.
