Jaguars training camp takes: Team goes light at TIAA Bank Field as a prelude to joint practice
Jaguars training camp practice No. 15, Aug. 23, at TIAA Bank Field
Weather: 84 degrees and partly cloudy to start, 86 degrees at the end.
Duration: 90 minutes, helmets, shorts, small shoulder pads. It was more or less a glorified walk-through in preparation for two joint practices with Atlanta Wednesday and Thursday.
Injuries: The only two players missing practice were OT Will Richardson (hamstring) and DT Folorunso Fatukasi (calf).
Offense notes
• Quarterback Trevor Lawrence looked sharp in the first two 11-on-11 periods, completing 8 of 12 passes.
• Running back James Robinson had a half-dozen reps and showed a burst hitting the hole. He was still wearing the orange "no contact" jersey and will remain limited in the upcoming joint practices with the Falcons on Wednesday and Thursday and won't play in the final preseason game on Saturday.
• No. 2 quarterback C.J. Beathard did not take any reps in team periods. Jake Luton, re-signed on Tuesday morning, and EJ Perry split the backup reps. Luton looked a bit rusty and Perry's best play was when he kept the ball on an RPO, fooling the first defense for a big game.
Defense notes
• Cornerback Darious Williams, a Creekside graduate, practiced without the no-contact jersey for the first time and coach Doug Pederson pronounced him a "full go" for the joint practices. Williams leaped to knock away one pass and covered well on other reps.
• Josh Allen and Travon Walker would have had sacks under live conditions.
Special teams notes
• The practice was heavy on punting and punt return, plus work in the gunners shedding blocks downfield.
