About the Jaguars

• The Jaguars have beaten the Colts seven games in a row at home (counting the 2016 London game), outscoring them by an average of slightly more than two touchdowns.

• Penalties were an issue last week, with 13 for 90 yards. They included false starts, illegal formations, and the defense getting hit with 12 men on the field. That can't happen against a Colts team that rarely beats itself.

• The Jags got three turnovers last week, a third of the total in 2021. But it still didn't lead to a victory. The pass rush also needs to get more production against Matt Ryan, not nearly as mobile as Carson Wentz.

About the Colts

• Run, run run ... the Colts will come out with heavy doses of Jonathan Taylor and they won't care if the Jaguars know it. It's what they do best and they will stick with it even when behind, as evidenced last week in salvaging a 20-20 tie with Houston when Taylor had 161 yards -- and nine carries in the fourth quarter.

• Matt Ryan is the third veteran quarterback in three years the Colt have tried in their attempt to replace Andrew Luck. Phillip Rivers and Wentz went before him and each lasted one year.

• Like the Jaguars, the Colts had trouble closing out drives against Houston. Ryan led possessions that reached the Texans' 27-, 2-, 22-, 42-, 40- and 9-yard lines and came away with only two field goals. They committed two turnovers and lost the ball on downs on three of those possessions.

Key matchup

Jaguars LB Foyesade Oluokun vs. Colts RB Jonathan Taylor: The Jaguars have had success containing Tayor at home and Oluokun was signed as a run-stopper. That means he needs to be heavily involved in the efforts to contain the hard-to-tackle Taylor. The Jags had some sloppy tackling last week and need to have cleaned that up.
