Jahlil Graham explodes for 36 points in Canton McKinley boys basketball win; Louisville girls roll

PICKERINGTON — Jahlil Graham scored a career-high 36 points as McKinley rallied for a 55-52 boys basketball win against Columbus Northland on Saturday during an event at Pickerington Central High School.

McKinley outscored Northland 32-21 in the second half to overcome an eight-point deficit at halftime. Graham connected on 13 field goals, including two 3-pointers, and shot 8-for-11 from the foul line as the Bulldogs moved to 2-0.

TraSean Foster added eight points for McKinley.

CLAYMONT 62, CARROLLTON 60 The Warriors could not hold a 31-20 halftime lead and fell in their home opener. Darick Miller led Carrollton with 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Lincoln Mallarnee hit four 3-pointers and scored 16 points. Cadyn Smith added 11 points. Graydon Mooneyham led Claymont with 22 points and Connor Lynch added 13.

CANFIELD 56, MARLINGTON 51 Connor Evanich posted a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds as the Dukes lost on the road Friday night in their season opener. Evanich made four 3-pointers. Tommy Skelding added 13 points and eight rebounds for Marlington.

Girls High School Basketball

LOUISVILLE 77, CHARDON 52 Three Leopards hit the 20-point mark during a victory in their home opener Saturday afternoon. Taryn Miglich made four 3-pointers and scored 24 points, while Kelsey Adelman scored 21 points and Brooke Haren added 20 for Louisville (2-1). The Leopards outscored Chardon 27-12 in the second quarter to open a 49-28 lead at the half. Emily Noerr led Chardon (1-1) with 18 points, while Anna Landies added 11 and Riley Zimmerer 10.

GREEN 59, AURORA 39 Alyssa Ziehler registered a double-double of 26 points and 13 rebounds as the Bulldogs routed Aurora on the road. Green forced 27 turnovers in moving to 3-0 on the young season. Riley Chmielewski scored 11 points for Green, while Bri Hunt added eight points and six steals.

LAKE 53, BUCHTEL 17 Alayna Horning scored 15 points and Wendy Tobin added 13 as the host Blue Streaks cruised to their first win of the season. Serentee Johnson grabbed nine rebounds for Lake (1-1).

WEST BRANCH 56, EAST LIVERPOOL 14 Sophie Gregory had 12 points and six steals as the Warriors rolled on the road. Cami Campbell and Livvie Showalter scored 10 points each for West Branch (2-1), while Sydney Mercer grabbed six rebounds.

GARAWAY 45, EAST CANTON 27 Rylee Putt scored 16 points to lead the Pirates to an IVC road win. Audrey Wade scored 10 points for East Canton.

ST. THOMAS AQUINAS 44, YOUNGSTOWN EAST 42 A 3-pointer by Giannah Burick and a jumper by Ava Soehnlen pushed the Knights to a road win Saturday. Aquinas (2-0) outscored East 23-13 in the fourth quarter to rally for the victory. Avery Bussey and Paris Everett led the Knights with 10 points apiece. Jo Smith grabbed 12 rebounds to go with seven points.

CLAYMONT 50, MALVERN 43 Maddie Powers totaled game highs of 18 points and 11 rebounds in a Malvern home loss. Bailey Eddleman led Claymont with 13 points and Emma Woodward added 12. Raechelle Miles chipped in nine points and nine rebounds for the Mustangs.

Men’s College Basketball

MALONE 101, PITT.-GREENSBURG 71 Jaret Majestic scored 25 points and the Pioneers hit the 100-point mark for the second straight game in a win at Osborne Hall on Saturday. Majestic shot 6-of-12 from the 3-point line to go with four assists. Bryce Butler scored 19 points for Malone (3-2). Justin Miller scored 13 points and added four assists, while Levi Seiler contributed 10 points and seven rebounds. Manchester High School product Jojo France led Pitt.-Greensburg (1-6) with 18 points and Reggie Priah added 16.
