Will Jahmyr Gibbs, Eli Ricks, Tyler Harrell be back with Alabama football? What they said

NEW ORLEANS ― Bryce Young and Will Anderson Jr. aren't the only Alabama football players who have important decisions to make soon. Several key players have said they are undecided about their future.

Running back Jahmyr Gibbs, talking postgame in the Crimson Tide locker room after Alabama defeated Kansas State 45-20 in the Sugar Bowl, said he hasn't decided yet whether he will return for his senior season or enter the 2023 NFL Draft. The junior Georgia Tech transfer plans to make the decision within the next week. "At most a week," Gibbs told The Tuscaloosa News.

"Talk to my parents and Coach Saban," Gibbs said. "That's about it."

A player has to be at least three years removed from high school to be able to declare for the NFL Draft.

Tyler Harrell, who saw limited playing time this season after transferring from Louisville, is considering going pro, transferring or returning.

"Those are the three options," Harrell said. "I'm still debating. We're going to see until the time comes."

He added he doesn't have a timeline right now. He was also asked by a reporter if he was considering going pro or transferring.

"I'm in between both right now," Harrell said. "I have one foot in, one foot out."

He said he's glad he came to UA. "100%," Harrell said.

Eli Ricks, who became a starter later in the year after transferring from LSU, also hasn't decided yet.

"I'm going to speak with my coach first," Ricks said. "I'm about to speak to him right now actually. You'll know pretty soon."

Ricks said people will know of his decision in the next coming days.

"Today or tomorrow probably," Ricks said.

Gibbs finished the season with 151 rushes for 926 yards and seven rushing touchdowns to go with 44 receptions for 444 yards and three receiving touchdowns. He was the primary starter at running back for most of the season.

Ricks got a chance to start against Mississippi State and started most of the rest of the way, other than when he wasn't injured. He tallied five starts late in the season. He finished the year with 13 tackles and four pass breakups, per ESPN.

Harrell didn't see much playing time in 2022. He got playing time on offense in only five games and finishing with two catches for 18 yards and no scores.
