Jaida Thomas, Mackenzie George earn All-Region honors

A pair of University of Tennessee soccer players have earned All-Region honors.

Tennessee forwards Jaida Thomas and Mackenzie George have been named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Southeastern Region Teams.

The 2020-21 campaign marks the seventh consecutive season that Tennessee has had multiple players named to All-Region teams.

Thomas, a first-team selection, also earns a spot on the 2020-21 All-America ballot.

George was a third-team selection after scoring four goals and posting four assists for the Lady Vols (8-6-1). She had two goals and one assist against Vanderbilt in the Southeastern Conference Tournament quarterfinals during the fall semester.

The Lincoln, California native also earned All-SEC First-Team honors.

Thomas, a redshirt freshman from Irving, Texas, led the SEC in goals (12), points (25) and tallied five game-winning markers for the Lady Vols.

She had four consecutive multi-goal matches, matching a record set by US National Team standout and former Florida Gator Abby Wambach in 2001.

Thomas’ five game-winners were the most scored by a freshman in UT program history.

She was named to the SEC’s All-Freshman Team and her 12 goals were the second most tallied by a first-year player in Lady Vols’ history.
