Jail time, pending verdicts: The case statuses of alleged Jan. 6 rioters from New England

Two years after angry supporters of then-President Donald Trump scaled the walls of the U.S. Capitol and stormed Senate chambers, the cases of New England residents who allegedly participated and broke the law are still moving through federal court.

Some have already been sentenced to jail time, and new arrests are still being made. Last month, individuals in Massachusetts and Rhode Island were charged for their alleged roles in the riots that occurred two years ago.

The two-year anniversary of the Capitol riots comes on the heels of the House Committee on the Jan. 6 attack recommending criminal charges against former President Trump. The committee released its final 800-page report last month.
