Graham, who is seeking his fourth term in the senate is facing the most competitive reelection race of his career.

On Sunday, Harrison’s campaign reported that the total was the largest-ever by any Senate candidate during a single three-month period. The amount tops the $38 million raised by Democrat Beto O’Rourke in the final fundraising period in his 2018 race against Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), which he lost.

According to Politico, Graham raised $8.4 million in the second quarter and had $15 million in the bank as of June 30. But he has not yet released his third-quarter fundraising totals, although it’s likely he has been eclipsed by Harrison.

Last month, Graham made guest appearance on Fox News, twice in the same day, and asked viewers for money to help him compete with Harrison. He said he was “getting killed financially” by Harrison, who he predicted would “raise $100 million in the state of South Carolina.”

Harrison has also outspent Graham by huge amounts. According to data from Advertising Analytics, the Democrat’s campaign spent $52 million on TV and digital ads so far this year compared to the $19 million that Graham’s campaign has spent.

“While Lindsey Graham continues playing political games in Washington, Jaime Harrison is remaining laser-focused on the real issues impacting people here — like health care, broadband access, and Covid relief for businesses and families,” said Guy King, a spokesperson for Harrison’s campaign.

King went on to say that after a long career in the senate, Lindsey Graham had morphed into someone voters no longer recognized. “These resources,” Guy added, “will be instrumental in our efforts to send Lindsey home in November.”
