Copley High School Athletic Director Andy Jalwan announced Monday that Jake Parsons has resigned as the school's football coach.

Parsons served as Copley’s football coach for the past four seasons and accumulated a record of 16-26.

Parsons announced his intentions to step down as Copley’s football coach during a meeting with the team on Monday.

“We express our thanks and appreciation to Mr. Parsons for his dedication to our program and our student-athletes during his time at Copley High School,” Jalwan said in a statement released by the school.

“During his tenure as head coach of the Copley High School program, he oversaw the rebuilding of the Copley Youth football program, spearheaded a project to renovate the Copley High School weight room, guided the football program during the unprecedented COVID pandemic, and reached the OHSAA football playoffs the past three years [in Division III, Region 10].

“Coach Parsons was also named Suburban League [American Conference] Coach of the Year in 2020. Not only did Mr. Parsons lead our team, but he set an example of what it meant to be a man of character for our young men to follow.”
