Jake Paul, Anderson Silva will fight in October. Here's how to stream or get tickets

The rumors are true: Boxers Jake Paul and Anderson Silva will face off in the ring soon in Arizona.

The match between Paul, a 25-year-old YouTuber-turned-boxer — who is 5-0 — and the former UFC champion (2-0 in boxing) who returned to boxing last year, will take place at Gila River Arena in Glendale on Saturday, Oct. 29.

"The bout will be contested over eight rounds at a catchweight of 187 pounds," according to a press release.

The fight was touted in the press release as "the biggest challenge of (Paul's) career." Silva was more effusive about the event, calling it "the biggest combat event of the year."

"It will truly make history in the sport forever," Silva said in a statement.

The fight will air live on Showtime pay-per-view at 6 p.m. MST/PT (9 p.m. ET) on Saturday, Oct. 29.

Jake Paul's and Anderson Silva's last fights

In August, Paul was set to fight Hasim Rahman Jr. at Madison Square Garden in New York City. However, the match was canceled after Rahman was unable to meet the weight requirement.

Paul's last fight was a rematch against UFC champion and MMA fighter Tyron Woodley in December 2021. Paul knocked Woodley out in the sixth round.

In June 2021, Silva won his fight against Julio César Chávez Jr. In September 2021, he knocked out Tito Ortiz in the first round of their match.

'They said Jake Paul is afraid of Anderson Silva'

Paul, a former Disney Channel actor who rebranded from prank vlogger to professional boxer in 2020, had some fighting words ahead of the Arizona match.

"Every expert, from MMA to boxing, has said Jake Paul won’t fight Anderson Silva. They said Jake Paul is afraid of Anderson Silva, and Jake Paul would lose to Anderson Silva. Well, to all the nonbelievers — Jake Paul is fighting Anderson Silva," Paul said in a statement.

"It’s an honor to have the opportunity to share the ring with the greatest UFC striker of all time. On Saturday, Oct. 29, I will walk humbly into the ring, touch gloves with a living legend and do my best to exterminate ‘The Spider.’”

The two will ramp up excitement for their match with press events on Sept. 12 in Los Angeles and Sept. 13 in Phoenix, according to the press release.

What did Jake Paul do in Arizona in 2020?

In 2020, Paul faced charges for his role in the looting of Scottsdale Fashion Square after a protest against George Floyd's murder. Scottsdale police dropped the charges several months later.

Paul appears to want to leave a better impression this time around.

He stated that he will "give back to the local (Phoenix) community through my Boxing Bullies foundation," though details were not provided. The Arizona Republic has reached out to Paul's representatives for more information.

According to its website, the nonprofit works "to empower as many young kids as possible to dismantle the bully mindset, build confidence and become leaders through the sport of boxing."
