With a 31-7 win, the Eagles beat the 49ers to head to the Super Bowl with former Sooners quarterback Jalen Hurts at the helm.

Hurts, a Heisman finalist during his 2019 season with Oklahoma after transferring from Alabama, will be facing another former Big 12 quarterback in Patrick Mahomes (Texas Tech) in the championship game to be played in Glendale, Ariz. on Feb. 12.

Combined, the Eagles and Chiefs rosters' list nine Sooners, the highest number of OU players represented at a Super Bowl, ever.

In addition to quarterback Jalen Hurts, the Eagles have five players who played at Oklahoma.

Guard Tyrese Robinson was drafted in 2022 after four seasons with Oklahoma. In 2021, he was named to the second-team, All-Big 12.

Running back Trey Sermon played three seasons at OU (2017-19) before transferring to Ohio State for the 2020 season. A third-round pick by the 49ers in 2021, Sermon has only two carries this season for the Eagles and was inactive for Sunday's NFC Championship Game.

Tight end Grant Calcaterra was at Oklahoma for two seasons before announcing he would retire from football after suffering a concussion during his sophomore season. Instead, he transferred to Auburn, and then SMU before being drafted into the NFL by the Eagles in 2022.

Chiefs' James Winchester and Creed Humphrey are Oklahoma natives and Sooners

The Chiefs boast four former Sooners on their team, half being Oklahoma natives.

Chief's Long snapper James Winchester played at Washington High School as a wide receiver before he joined the Sooners in 2008 as a walk-on. The son of OU's 1985 national champion punter Mike Winchester, he was signed by the Eagles in 2013 as an undrafted free agent. In 2015, he joined the Chiefs, joining them on their road victory in Super Bowl LIV in 2020.

From Shawnee High School, center Creed Humphrey was a Sooners player from 2018 to 2020. He was drafted in 2021 by the Chiefs.

Tackle Orlando Brown was with OU from 2014 to 2017. He was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in 2018 before being traded to the Chiefs in 2021.

Tight end Blake Bell played at Oklahoma from 2011 to 2014. He was drafted in 2015 and over the course of eight seasons, has played for six teams. He won a Super Bowl with the Chiefs in 2020.

Is Jalen Hurts the first Sooners QB to play in the Super Bowl?

Oklahoma athletics lists 71 Sooners as having played in previous Super Bowls (more on that later), but missing from the list is a three-time winner of the championship game.

Troy Aikman was a Sooner in five games in the mid-1980s before an injury sidelined him and a change at QB led him to transfer to UCLA. He'd go on to win Super Bowls with the Dallas Cowboys.

Like Hurts, Aikman is most associated with the last school he played college football for, not the first, despite the fact that Hurts played the majority of his college football career for Alabama.

How often have OU football players won the Super Bowl?

Just over half of Sooners who played in the Super Bowl have actually won it. Sooner Sports says of the 71 OU football players who have played in the big game, 36 have won it.

Four Sooners have won two Super Bowls.

Running back Kenny King and nose tackle Reggie Kinlaw were part of the Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders' Super Bowl XV and XVIII wins. Oklahoma native Tony Casillas won back-to-back championships with the Cowboys in Super Bowl XXVII and XXVIII.

Tackle Ralph Neely played in three Super Bowls, the most of any alumnus of the program, but won only Super Bowl VI and XII with the Dallas Cowboys.
