Jamal Guiler wins Sarasota School-Related Employee of the Year
Jamal Guiler, an information technology department employee, is the Sarasota County School District School-Related Employee of the Year, the district announced Thursday.
Guiler, 43, is a system administrator in IT, and a five-year employee. He was given a $1,000 check and will be in the running for the statewide award later this summer.
The School-Related Employee of the Year award encompasses all non-certified, non-instructional personnel — such as bookkeepers, bus drivers and food service employees, among others — who serve at the school or district level, according to a news release.
Gulier's peers describe him as the "go-to person" and a "dedicated" professional. He works in the instructional portion of the IT department, which directly services schools.
