Jamarion Sharp exits transfer portal, returns to Western Kentucky basketball

Western Kentucky basketball's biggest win in the transfer portal might not be a new addition.

Jamarion Sharp, the 7-foot-5 Hilltoppers center who led the nation in blocked shots this past season, announced via his Instagram account that he's returning to WKU for at least a second season.

"After talking to several schools and visiting another school, I realized again where my heart really was, here at WKU," Sharp wrote. "I really appreciate everyone who took the time out of their schedule to talk to me. Everything that I need is right here at Western Kentucky."

Sharp, who transferred to Western Kentucky last season from John A. Logan College and averaged 8.2 points, 7.6 rebounds and 4.6 blocked shots for the Hilltoppers, shooting 72.6% from the floor. He set a WKU record with 148 blocks.

Missouri was considered a strong candidate to land Sharp. Kyle Smithpeters, his coach at John A. Logan, joined Dennis Gates' first Missouri staff this offseason as an assistant.

WKU has added two transfers this spring: Khristian Lander, a 6-foot-2 guard from Indiana, and Dontaie Allen, a 6-foot-6 wing who played two seasons at Kentucky.
