Chef Andrew Carmellini is set to open his second Nashville restaurant at the W Hotel. Carne Mare, an upscale Italian chophouse, will serve its first meals on Nov. 12.

The James Beard Award winner opened his first Nashville restaurant, The Dutch, at the hotel in October.

"We’ve been amazed by the reception of The Dutch and we’re looking forward to opening a second restaurant that’s totally different but just as exciting,” Carmellini said in a press release. "We want our guests to feel a sense of familiarity when they walk through the doors, but they’ll encounter unexpected and surprising elements throughout the evening for an experience unlike anything else in Nashville."

Carne Mare will initially open for dinner Wednesday through Sunday. The restaurant has a similar menu to the original location in New York City, and its offerings draw on Carmellini's experience working at the Michelin-starred San Domenico restaurant in Emilio-Romagna, Italy: think oysters and rustic salads, handmade pastas and desserts flambéed tableside.

The menu's centerpiece is its wide selection of steaks, including a dry-aged 40-ounce tomahawk, a 16-ounce prime rib and 45-ounce Bistecca Fiorentina porterhouse. Vegetarian steak options, including a smoked, spit-roasted and grilled beetroot steak, are also available.
