James Charles and YouTube Are Teaming up for a Streaming Reality Competition Series

James Charles and YouTube are teaming up to make all of your influencer dreams come true. The influencer-turned-makeup artist and the Internet giant have officially announced their joint streaming competition series — and a past filled with apology videos and social media rifts aren't even required to audition.

As first reported by Dazed, James announced the upcoming contest in a YouTube video posted on Friday, November 15. The series, called James Charles Instant Influencer, will reportedly air on YouTube in the spring of 2020. It will feature six contestants that dream of becoming a professional makeup artist. In each episode, contestants are expected to face off in a series of challenges, and at the end of the series, one will be crowned the winner and walk away with $50,000.

In a press release statement, James, who has a history of serious drama, explained his desire to do the series, saying, “Reality competition shows have always been a guilty pleasure of mine, and ever since I became a content creator on YouTube, it’s been one of my biggest dreams to create my own. Being a superstar influencer takes a whole lot more than just blending eye shadow, and I can’t wait to find out who has what it takes to make it to the top.”

Now, if you dream of having James (and some of his friends in the makeup industry) judge your work, the casting process has already started. You'll need to be over the age of 18 and have a currently active YouTube channel, but other than that, all you need to enter is to sign up online.

There's no word on which famous makeup artists and influencers might join James in judging yet, but our fingers are crossed that one challenge includes creating your very own YouTube apology video.
