James Corden reveals late Migos rapper Takeoff gave him nickname

James Corden has revealed that the late Migos rapper Takeoff gave him the nickname Big Drip.

Takeoff, who was murdered in Houston, Texas earlier this week during a shooting at a bowling alley where he was enjoying a private party.

On the latest episode of The Late Late Show, Corden paid tribute to the rapper, who participated in his Carpool Karaoke series.

During his opening mologue, Corden said: "I just want to take this moment to say how utterly devastated we were to wake up to the news that at the age of 28, Takeoff has tragically died."

He added: "It is heartbreaking to anyone who knew him and to all of his fans around the world, Takeoff was funny and kind. I’ve been thinking about him all day and I’ve been thinking about my biggest feeling when I was around him was just how much he loved music."

Corden also recalled his own meetings with the multi-platinum selling rapper: "I was lucky enough to spend some unforgettable moments with Takeoff over the past few years.

"He was an incredible guy, warm and generous. Whenever I’d see him he’d always call me Big Drip and he knew how much I loved that, and I loved being around him and every member of Migos."

Takeoff co-founded Migos with his uncle Quavo and cousin Offset in 2008 originally under the name Polo Club.

They are best known for their 2016 number one hit Bad and Boujee featuring Lil Uzi Vert which sold over four million copies in the US alone.

Their last album as a trio was released in 2021 with Quavo and Takeoff releasing an album of their own just last month following a falling out with Offset.
