James Harden opens up on his Houston days before reunion with Rockets

James Harden returns to Houston on Wednesday night to face his former team right before the All-Star break, and it should be an emotional evening both for Harden and for the Rockets’ fanbase.

Harden was the centerpiece of everything they did for almost a decade since he was traded there in 2012, and grew into the mastermind he is now in his time in Houston. He is arguably one of the best shooting guards to ever play the game because of his ability to score from almost anywhere on the court.

Despite being one of the best in the game, winning multiple division titles and leading Houston to several 50+ win seasons, the Rockets and the Beard were never able to make it to the NBA Finals. The two parties decided to part ways in January and now we are all experiencing the aftermath of their breakup (no pun intended).

On Monday after the victory against the Spurs, James Harden touched on his experience in Houston.

“Time there was great. Obviously came up short of winning a championship or even a Finals — hopefully those fans appreciated everything that I’ve done on the court and off the court.”

Although both sides were unable to achieve ultimate success in regards to winning the championship, the bond that Harden had with the city of Houston and their fans will always be remembered and appreciated – and the Rockets reportedly plan to retire his No. 13.
