ITV chef James Martin has shared an unexpected filming update for his cooking programme James Martin's Saturday Morning.

Earlier this month, the This Morning chef revealed he was taking a three-month break from TV in order to receive treatment for a facial cancer diagnosis he received a few years ago.

However, Martin has now revealed via Instagram that he is back filming in the kitchen just weeks after his previous announcement.

"We're back! Full day filming @saturdayjamesmartin and to the local for one," he wrote alongside the series of images, which included snaps of various ingredients laid out across his kitchen alongside production equipment.

Fans were surprised to see Martin back filming so soon, sharing their concern and well-wishes in the comments.

"I thought you were supposed to be taking time off to get better James or are you still on a high after your amazing tour. Take care of yourself," one person commented, while a second wrote: "Stay well James. Good to see you back."

"Get yourself better, we will still be here once you're fighting fit," another added.

Martin announced his plans to take a break from TV while on tour at the start of the month while on stage at Liverpool's Philharmonic Hall. "On a personal note, I just wanted to say thank you for 30 years of television," he revealed to the audience (via Daily Mirror).

"For me personally, I've been through a lot of shit with cancer but I'm getting sorted at the end of next month. I will be back fighting at the end of February but I'm going on a little bit of a break to get that sorted," he added.

"I just wanted to say thank you for all your support and all your messages."
