An official release date for the sequel of James Wan’s hit film “M3GAN” has recently been announced.

“M3GAN 2.0” will hit cinemas on Jan. 17, 2025, according to Variety.

Allison Williams will return as Gemma, a roboticist who created the artificially intelligent doll, while Violet McGraw will reprise her role as Gemma’s niece, Cady.

Screenwriter Akela Cooper will also be returning to write the sequel. While Gerard Johnstone directed the first film, a director for “2.0” has yet to be announced.

Earlier this month, “M3GAN” became the U.S.’ second highest-grossing film of 2023 after earning over $30 million on its opening weekend.

The Universal Pictures PG-13 sci-fi horror film, produced by Wan, premiered on Jan. 6. It reportedly made the biggest opening in the country for an original horror movie since Jordan Peele's 2022 neo-Western sci-fi horror film “Nope.”

Wan is notably behind popular horror movie franchises such as “The Conjuring,” “The Nun” and “Insidious.”
