James Weems Jr. denied bail in child sex abuse case at day care
A Baltimore County judge denied bail Tuesday for James Weems Jr., who faces 13 sex offense charges involving children as young as 7 years old. Police said an ongoing investigation indicates the alleged crimes took place at a day-care facility his wife runs in Owings Mills, and authorities believe there are more victims. Court testimony indicates police are interested in talking with 93 clients of the day care. Weems, 57, a retired Baltimore City police officer and former Marine, was dressed in an orange prison jumpsuit and used a walker to enter a closed-circuit TV room for his bail review Tuesday.
