The Golden State Warriors traded former Memphis Tiger James Wiseman to the Detroit Pistons in a four-team deal that also involved the Atlanta Hawks, ESPN reported Thursday.

The Pistons sent forward Saddiq Bey to the Hawks. The Warriors acquired guard Gary Payton II, and the Trail Blazers acquired five second round picks, ESPN reported.

Wiseman, the No. 2 pick in the 2020 draft, has struggled to earn consistent playing time in his third NBA season. He averaged 12.5 minutes per game in 21 games with the Warriors this season, totaling 6.9 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.

The 7-footer from the University of Memphis and Memphis East High tore his right meniscus in April 2021 and missed the rest of his rookie season. After a setback in March 2022 while trying to return, he was shut down during the Warriors' run to the NBA title.

There was a clear top three in the 2020 NBA Draft, with Wiseman, Georgia's Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball. Edwards and Ball have already made All-Star teams.

Wiseman now gets a reset in Detroit, which has the worst record in the Eastern Conference. He'll battle for playing time with centers Isaiah Stewart and Jalen Duren.

Wiseman will also have to wait another season before playing his first NBA game in Memphis. The Pistons made their only trip to Memphis this season on Dec. 9.
