Jamie Erdahl believes Vikings need a change at quarterback

The never ending debate on what to do at the quarterback position rages on as we sit 29 days before the NFL draft. Should Kirk Cousins be the starting quarterback of the Minnesota Vikings next season.

On Wednesday morning’s episode of Good Morning Football, Minnesota’s own Jamie Erdahl thinks they need to move on.

” Can you make it to an NFC title game can you make it to a Super Bowl? Can you not lose in the first round of the playoffs again? Because Kirk Cousins while I hope he does have the most competitive season in 2023 I’m not sure it necessarily needs to be with the Minnesota Vikings.”

“I’m so sick of watching the Vikings play that way I am having a quarterback that wins do regular season titles is is great but don’t as an ownership as management.I love Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, I think he’s an unbelievable talent. But don’t come in and say you’re going to change the culture and not have part of the culture be we’re going to compete for Super Bowls. You are still on a list that you don’t want to be on of a team that has not won a Super Bowl.”

The conversation around Cousins and specifically Lamar Jackson, who has been connected to the Vikings on mulitple occasions, has been consistent over the last few weeks. Why is that? The Vikings haven’t made a commitment to Cousins past the end of his current contract.

While Cousins wanted to have both 2024 and 2025 fully guaratneed, the Vikings weren’t willing to do that to maximize their flexibility. They are on the path to replacing him, but who will it be? Erdahl made the case for Lamar Jackson, but a rookie makes more sense at this point.

Will a Super Bowl be on the horizon? Erdahl thinks a change is necessary for that to happen.
