'Jammy-ing' good time at 'Christmas in the Garden'

Thought it wasn't even sweater weather, it was definitely pajama time Friday at Adamson-Spalding Storybook Garden.

"Christmas in the Garden," held in the shadow of the Abilene Convention Center, invited families to show up in their pajamas and were likely the coolest ones at the event, in both the fashionable and temperature-related sense.

As everyone lined up to meet Santa, a few grownups were seen sweating in the unseasonably-warm 80-degree evening. Those wearing thin cotton PJs, however, seemed to have no worries in that department.

In addition to pictures with Santa Claus, children met storybook characters, rode a trail, and petted animals from May Farms. Celebration Singers entertained all with Christmas Carols and later Mrs. Claus herself read stories to children.

Next up on the holiday calendar is the lighting of Abilene's Christmas tree outside of City Hall at 6 p.m. Monday.
