Jan. 6 fugitive arrested in Clearwater: FBI

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The FBI arrested a man authorities say skipped his trial on charges related to the Jan. 6 riots at the U.S. capitol.

The FBI Tampa Division confirmed Victor Sean Dennison, of California, was arrested at the Woodlake Condominiums in Clearwater on Monday.

Dennison, 49, is scheduled to make his first court appearance Tuesday.

Dennison skipped his trial in Washington, D.C., on June 5, 2023, after his initial arrest on Jan. 5 that year, according to court records.

Dennison originally faced charges of entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds, disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds, disorderly conduct in a Capitol building or grounds, and parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building.

The FBI originally became aware of Dennison when an anonymous tipster submitted video posted on Dennison’s Facebook page that allegedly shows Dennison saying he entered the U.S. Capitol building on Jan. 6, 2021.

The criminal complaint says the video seems to have been filmed in the D.C. area and showed Dennison wearing a puff-jacket and a baseball cap that read “ALL ABOARD THE TRUMP TRAIN.”

Investigators also said a photo of rioters inside the U.S. Capitol building shows Dennison, identified wearing the same jacket and ball cap.

Dennison was interviewed on June 9, 2021, where he admitted to being in D.C. on Jan. 6 for a pro-Trump rally and for the former President’s speech at the Ellipse near the White House, according to the criminal complaint. Dennison reportedly confirmed he walked to the U.S. Capitol building with a large crowd and admitted “he entered the U.S. Capitol building after noticing the doors had been breeched.”
