The House select committee’s series of public hearings resumed Thursday with the panel presenting evidence of former President Donald Trump’s efforts to persuade former Vice President Mike Pence to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

The committee highlighted an Oval Office meeting the two men had the day before the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot. In it, Trump reportedly told Pence they would no longer be friends if Pence did not block certification of President Biden's victory.

The panel also played video testimony of a phone call they had on the morning of the attack during which Trump berated Pence over his refusal. White House advisor Ivanka Trump described the conversation as “pretty heated,” while other witnesses testified that Trump called Pence a “wimp” and “the P-word.”
