The group that puts on the Golden Globes is clearly quite fond of Jane Fonda.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association on Tuesday announced that the Oscar-winning actress will be honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the 2021 Golden Globes.

This prestigious award, which was introduced in the 1950s, each year recognizes "outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment," and its most recent recipients have been Tom Hanks, Jeff Bridges, Oprah Winfrey, Meryl Streep, and Denzel Washington. Walt Disney, Alfred Hitchcock, Lucille Ball, and Fonda's father Henry Fonda are among the other past recipients.

"For more than five decades, Jane's breadth of work has been anchored in her unrelenting activism, using her platform to address some of the most important social issues of our time," Hollywood Foreign Press Association President Ali Sar said Tuesday. "Her undeniable talent has gained her the highest level of recognition, and while her professional life has taken many turns, her unwavering commitment to evoking change has remained."

Fonda has a history of activism and in 2019 made headlines for repeatedly getting arrested while holding weekly climate change protests in Washington, D.C. She'll become the 16th woman to receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award, The Hollywood Reporter notes.

The 2021 Golden Globes, which will take place later than usual this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, are scheduled for Feb. 28.
