Janssen Brothers’ Farm earns ninth Master Grower Award

Monroe tomato grower the Janssen Brothers’ Farm received its ninth Master Grower Award from Red Gold.

Tim, Dave and Butch Janssen were honored at Red Gold’s 32nd annual Growers Banquet, held recently in Elwood, Indiana. The farm received a Red Gold plaque.

“This year’s production from Janssen Brothers' Farms will account for over 15 million cans of Red Gold whole, diced, stewed and specialty tomato products,” Red Gold said in a news release.

The Janssen Brothers’ Farm, located at Strasburg Road, has received the Master Growers Award eight other times. The last time was in 2016.

“The Master Grower Award is given each year to recipients who have distinguished themselves from others by delivering quality production while exhibiting industry leadership and professionalism,” Red Gold said in a news release. “All growers for Red Gold had training on good production practices, employee safety and human resources. As tomato growers for Red Gold, the Janssen Brothers have excelled in stewardship and sustainable practices on their farm and participate in Red Gold’s IPM program.”

Also at the banquet, Rice Farms from Wanatah, Indiana, was named Red Gold’s Grower of the Year and received the E.A. Reichart Quality Achievement Award.

Red Gold, based in Elwood, Indiana, is the leading tomato processor in the Midwest and specializes in tomato products for markets in all 48 continental states and many other countries, the company said.
