Japanese football manager Hajime Moriyasu has won the hearts of netizens around the world for bowing to the crowd at Qatar’s Al Janoub Stadium.

Moriyasu, the 54-year-old head coach of Japan's national team at this year’s FIFA World Cup, made the humble gesture following Samurai Blue’s heartbreaking loss to Croatia on Monday. The recent loss marked the end of the East Asian nation’s World Cup journey.

Moriyasu was reportedly the last member of Japan’s national team to exit the pitch.

Several netizens took to Twitter to praise Moriyasu for his gesture.

“Japan manager Hajime Moriyasu bowed in appreciation to the fans who traveled all the way to Qatar to support their team. Lost the tournament, Won our hearts,” another Twitter user said.

“Appreciation tweet for Japan's head coach Hajime Moriyasu! 👏 Managerial masterclass against Luis Enrique and Hansi Flick,” one Twitter account wrote.

In addition to Moriyasu’s gesture, Japan’s national team also made headlines for tidying up their locker room after their win over Germany on Nov 23. Meanwhile, their fans have gone viral for again cleaning up the stadium following their loss to Croatia.
