Country music superstar Jason Aldean is returning to Evansville as part of his 2024 tour, according to an announcement from Ford Center officials.

Aldean will play at the Evansville arena on Aug. 8 as part of what is, as of now, a 24-show "Highway Desperado" tour. Tickets go on sale Dec. 1 at 10 a.m. local time at jasonaldean.com, with prices to be announced.

Opening acts for the tour include Lauren Alaina, Haile Whitters, Chase Matthew, Austin Snell and Dee Jay Silver.

Aldean released his 11th studio album earlier this month. In July, Aldean became part of a social media controversy when critics attacked the lyrics of "Try That in a Small Town" as empowering gun violence and lynching sentiments.

Aldean took to Twitter to defend both himself and the song, saying it "refers to the feeling of a community that I had growing up, where we took care of our neighbors, regardless of differences of background or belief. Because they were our neighbors, and that was above any differences."

Aldean has 28 No. 1 singles and more than 20 million albums sold.
