New England Patriots cornerback Jason McCourty shared heartwarming message after leaving for the Miami Dolphins.

He took to Twitter to address the fanbase, the ownership and the coaching staff ahead of leaving for Miami to play for former Patriots defensive play-caller Brian Flores, who is the Dolphins coach.

“Thank you to RKK (Robert Kraft) and Coach Belichick for giving me a chance to wear the Patriots uniform,” McCourty wrote. “For the past three seasons, I’ve gotten a chance to live out a childhood dream, playing alongside my brother while winning a championship and building lifelong friendships. Thank you to everyone within the New England Patriots organization.”

McCourty served in a mix of starting roles and a substitutional roles during his seasons with the Patriots. His biggest moment in New England came on a pass breakup during Super Bowl LIII when the Patriots beat the Los Angeles Rams. McCourty tracked down an arcing pass attempt for Rams receiver Brandin Cooks in the end zone, and the cornerback managed to knock away what seemed like an imminent touchdown.

McCourty’s departure leaves the cornerback depth chart with Stephon Gilmore, J.C. Jackson, Jalen Mills, Joejuan Williams, Myles Bryant, Michael Jackson, D’Angelo Ross and Dee Virgin, among others.
