Jason Priestley praises fellow ’90210' actor Shannen Doherty in her cancer battle: ‘She will continue to fight as hard as she can’
Actress Shannen Doherty may be pulling back from the public eye as she battles stage 4 breast cancer, but her friends and fellow actors are rallying around her behind the scenes.
Most recently, “90210” co-star Jason Priestley told an interviewer that he checks in on her periodically, and he praised her indomitable spirit.
“I reach out to Shannen every few months just to check in on her and say hi,” Priestley told the Australian morning talk show “Studio 10.” “Shannen’s a real tough girl. Shannen’s a fighter, and she’s always been a fighter, and I know that she will continue to fight as hard as she can.”
The “Private Eyes” star did not have an update on Doherty’s health but said she remained upbeat.
“Last time I heard from her she was in pretty good spirits,” he said.
Doherty announced in February this year that her breast cancer, supposedly vanquished three years ago, had returned and was Stage 4, meaning it had metastasized.
A couple of weeks later, she shared some of her struggle on Instagram.
“After a year of dealing with cancer coming back and other stresses, I’m back at it,” the “90210” actress wrote. “Taking care of myself and embracing every day. It’s not always easy. I have days I’m depressed or just plain lazy.”
