“Ted Lasso” fans got a surprise Monday when a certain long-haired British “journalist” they love showed up in the White House briefing room.

Cast members of the hit show were at the White House to talk to President Joe Biden about mental health issues. But before that, Jason Sudeikis and four of his co-stars appeared in front of the media.

When Sudeikis finished making remarks about the reason for their visit — “I truly believe we all should do our best to take care of each other” — he said he would take one question from the press.

“Ah yes, sir, a familiar face,” he said, pointing to actor James Lance at the back of the room.

“Trent Crimm, fake journalist,” Lance introduced himself.

“How do you feel about Kansas City being one of the main hosting cities for the 2026 World Cup?” he asked.

“Here I was hoping for a softball,” Sudeikis joked.

Kansas City is one of 16 host cities for the international soccer tournament.

“I’m very excited. … I love this town,” Sudeikis/Lasso said, referencing his hometown.

“What I am genuinely worried about is once we get all these folks from all over the world to come to Kansas City and see our city, eat our food, meet our people, you’re going to have a lot of folks that won’t want to move away.”

As Sudeikis headed for the door, a real journalist at the briefing asked him, “You don’t have a Joe Biden impression?”

Sudeikis did impressions of Biden on “Saturday Night Live.”

“They got the real one here now,” Sudeikis quipped, noting he would need “fake teeth” and “a lot of chutzpah” to pull off the impression.

The briefing started off with shouting, surely not the warm welcome White House officials had planned.

When White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre walked in with Sudeikis and the others, she seemed surprised at the size of the media gathering. “I wonder why so many people are here today,” she joked.

Then a raised voice could be heard coming from the crowded room, and Jean-Pierre interjected.

“No, no, no, no. We’re not doing this. We’re not doing this. We’re not doing this,” she cautioned the Today News Africa reporter who was shouting.

But the reporter, known for outbursts like this in the room, kept shouting even as others in the room tried to shush him.

“Let her start!”

“Decorum, please! Decorum, please,” someone else shouted at him.

Jean-Pierre turned to Sudeikis and others and said: “Welcome guys, welcome to the press briefing room.”
