Javelinas' unbeaten streak ends with loss to Angelo State University

In a matchup of two unbeaten powerhouses in NCAA Division II, Angelo State outscored Texas A&M-Kingsville 14-0 in the second half to secure a 34-7 Lone Star Conference win, and hand the Javelinas their first loss of the season on Saturday at LeGrand Stadium in San Angelo.

The No. 15 Javelinas, who started the season 7-0 for the first time since 2009, could not get going offensively after scoring their only points in the first quarter.

The No. 2 Rams put together 417 yards of offense and held A&M-Kingsville to 145 yards as they improved to 8-0 overall and 6-0 in conference play.

The Javelinas (7-1, 5-1) remain in contention for a NCAA Division II playoff berth with three games left in the regular season.

Highlights: Asa Fuller broke a 7-7 tie with a 29-yard field goal in the second quarter to give Angelo State the lead for good. The Javelinas' only points came when Amos Coleman intercepted quarterback Zach Bronkhorst and ran 20 yards for the score. The Rams followed with 28 unanswered points behind Bronkhorst, who completed 14 passes for 183 yards and three touchdowns.
