When Batwoman came to an end, many fans feared it would be the last time they saw bisexual star Javicia Leslie suited up in the DC universe. Thankfully that’s not the case, as the actor is appearing in the final season of The Flash, but not as her superhero alter ego, but in a much more villainous role.

Last week on the third episode of The Flash’s final season, Leslie made her entrance when she was unmasked as Red Death. For those unfamiliar with the character, Red Death is an evil version of The Flash and a member of the Dark Knights, which are made up of villainous versions of DC heroes from the multiverse.

Late last year it was announced that Leslie had been cast in a mysterious role for the final season of the hit CW series, and leaked images from the set tipped off fans as to who she was playing. Finally, now that the episode has aired ,Leislie is getting to share her feelings about playing the villainous character.

“The Bat’s out of the bag! Y’all this is truly a dream come true! As a hugeeee Batman fan, to be able to play the iconic evil speedster Red Death is a dream came true! ‘I AM VENGEANCE’!!! ” Leslie gushed on Instagram after the reveal.

“When [showrunner] Eric Wallace called me with this idea, we geeked like two kids in a comic shop! We knew this would be fun!!! This role challenged me in so many ways. I always play nice, so it was fun to lean into the bad side for a little. I hope you all have as much fun watching as we had making this story!” she added.

When Eric Wallace called me with this idea, we geeked like two kids in a comic shop! We knew this would be fun!!! This role challenged me in so many ways. Eric Wallace also recently spilled some tea about Red Death, explaining that she’s different from the ones fans have gotten to know in the comics.

“We’re using kind of a completely different character, and our Red Death will have their own new origin,” Wallace revealed to TV Line. there has to be a reason for this character to be not just obsessed with Barry Allen but hate his guts enough to try to take him down and ruin his world.”

“That will become obvious, but it takes a few episodes to peel back the onion of why she hates Barry so much. And I think the audience is going to love it,” he adds. “And what’s great is that one of the key scenes that involves this whole Red Death storyline, it involves Iris.”

Very intriguing! Just putting this out there, but if Iris wanted to ditch Barry for Red Death, we wouldn't complain.
