Kimberly Gibson said all things are on track for her son signing with the Florida Gators on Dec. 15, the NCAA’s early National Signing Day for football.

Jayden Gibson, who committed to the Gators last month over Georgia and South Carolina, had been silent on his recruiting since Florida head coach Dan Mullen was fired Nov. 21.

His mother, however, said Sunday when reached after the Gators had hired new head football coach Billy Napier, that Florida “is where his heart is” and he’ll sign with UF and then play in the Under Armour All-American Game in Orlando, followed by his early enrollment in Gainesville.

“That’s the plan, and I don’t foresee it changing,” Kimberly Gibson said. “He’s going to bring a good, positive energy to the team and be ready to lead and be ready to learn. I think we’re good with what’s going on right now.”

Mrs. Gibson said the family was happy to see the Gators move quickly to hire Napier on Sunday, just one week after Mullen’s firing.

“That’s awesome,” she said. “[Jayden] wasn’t trying to make any big moves. He wants to play in the Swamp. We just hope it works out for the best because they’ll be getting one of the best receivers in the nation.”

Jayden Gibson, the No. 26-ranked receiver in the country according to 247 Sports, finished his season with West Orange on Friday night in the Class 8A regional final. The Warriors lost 49-7 to top-seeded Venice.

Gibson had 46 catches for 728 yards and 13 touchdowns going into the Venice game.
