Jaywalker struck, killed on Prince William Parkway

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — Police in Prince William County said a person was struck and killed by a vehicle while they were jaywalking on Prince William Pkwy and Worth Ave. in Woodbridge Sunday.

Investigators said they responded to the area at around 7:30 p.m. on February 11 after reports of a crash involving a pedestrian.

Upon investigating, they said the driver of a 2020 Hyundai Tucson was traveling east on Prince William Pkwy approaching the intersection with Worth Ave. when they struck a jaywalker wearing dark clothing.

The jaywalker was taken to hospital where they later died. The driver of the Tucson remained on scene and was not injured.

Investigators said neither speed nor impairment were factors in this incident.

Police later identified the victim as 49-year-old Lon Thomas Osborn of no fixed address. The driver of the striking vehicle was a 23-year-old woman.
