Gypsy jazz returns to Honesdale

Enjoy the sounds of "hotclub" jazz Thursday evening, right in Honesdale's Central Park.

Formed in 2006, the Gypsy Jazz Quintet honors the high-energy music performed by Roma guitarist Django Reinhardt and Parisian violinist Stephane Grappelli in prewar Paris dance halls from 1934 to 1939. Organized by guitarist and music arranger John Curtin, the GJQ has performed at music festivals, taverns and resorts.

The band's members come together from very different backgrounds to make this special music: John Curtin and Vince Marrone on guitar, Bob Wilson on bass, Nick Driscoll on clarinet, and Mark Woodyatt on violin. Their work has been has been called "a joy to hear and experience" and "musicianship of the highest caliber."

Refreshments will be available for purchase, but attendees can also bring their own food. (No alcohol or smoking, please.) Bring a blanket or chair for seating. In case of rain, the concert will be moved to the Cooperage on Main St. Honesdale.

Free dog training expo in Taylor

Bring your four-legged friend, and the whole family, to a free dog training expo. Wayne from DS-K9 will be giving live demonstrations on obedience and training for your canine companions. Free hot dogs and refreshments will be available, courtesy of Gaughan Auto Store.

CBD Workshop at Anthill Farm with Farm Arts Collective

Join farmers Sky Ballentine and Monique Milleson, co-owners of Anthill Farm Agroforestry, in Honesdale for a tour of their farm operations.

The tour will cover their diverse fruit tree crops as well as their work and knowledge in producing and marketing CBD. The workshop will introduce their agroforestry cultivation of a uniquely pure and fresh hemp flower while supporting a dynamic farm ecology. Appropriate dress encouraged.
