Jazz concert Dec. 5 will benefit local residents in need
GALESBURG — A fundraising musical concert featuring compositions by Daniel Leahy and Pippi Ardennia as well as well as jazz holiday standards will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5 at Lindstrom’s TV & Appliance, 400 E. Main St.
The event is the idea of longtime local attorney Bill Butts in collaboration with Pippi and Daniel Music, whose desire is to support neighbors in need of emergency funding. It will be the sixth Pippi Ardennia and Daniel Leahy concert fundraising event.
"We have many people in our community who are facing economic challenges," Leahy said. "Some earn more revenue than that determined by the well known assistance programs, therefore not meeting the criteria of poverty guidelines.
"We are asking Galesburg's community to donate what we can to assist, and help impact the health of these community members."
The United Way and Julie Haugland at Galesburg General Assistance help identify programs best for people in need of assistance.
The concert presents pianist and composer Leahy, vocalist and composer Ardennia, drums Manuel Lopez III, with special guest artist trumpeter David Hoffman, trumpeter Edgar Crockett and bassist Dave Plunk.
There will be seating for 50 people, along with standing room space.
A suggested donation for the concert is $20 per person. Donations can be directly sent to the law offices of Bill Butts at:
