SOUTH BEND — The Merrimans’ Playhouse @ the Snite Museum concert series continues with a performance by Matthew Muñeses from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. June 16 in the courtyard at the University of Notre Dame’s Snite Museum of Art.

Saxophonist Matthew Muñeses presents music from his new project, “Noli Me Tángere,” named after and inspired by the 1887 novel by Filipino polymath and revolutionary José Rizal.

Rizal’s “Noli Me Tángere” (“Touch me not” in Latin) details political corruption in the Philippines. The music touches on themes from the novel — oppression and injustice, hope and faith — and aspects of Filipino culture, such as bayanihan, the concept of communal living, and working as a community/country towards betterment and the greater good.

Muñeses will be joined by Zubin Edalji on trumpet; Stu Mindeman, piano; Clark Sommers, bass; and Dana Hall, drums.

Bring a blanket or lawn chair.

A cash bar will be available.

Museum galleries also will be open.

Admission is free.
