JCPS buses can now be tracked by families through this new mobile app

Jefferson County Public Schools has launched a new app that will hopefully bring families some comfort as the district works to transport its students.

The app should fix the "unfair" treatment families received on the first day of the new school year, when they weren't able to connect with schools or the bus compound to figure out where their students were, Superintendent Marty Pollio said.

Elementary and middle school students returned to school last week after six days of missed instruction while district leaders attempted to fix the major flaws within JCPS' new busing system. High school students returned Monday. During the closure, Pollio announced parents would have access to an app within a few days of schools reopening.

Its launch was announced Tuesday.

The app is made by Edulog and it allows parents to know where their child's bus is. Other districts already using this technology include Dallas Independent Schools, Chicago Public Schools and DeKalb County Schools in Atlanta, Georgia.

Families should check their email to find more login information for the Edulog Parent Portal Lite app. JCPS said the app can be found in the Apple or Android app store.

The email sent to parents said the district is using "the lite version of the app, but we may upgrade to the more robust version in the future."
