JCPS: Student hit by vehicle Tuesday while crossing Poplar Level Road

A Jefferson County Public Schools student was hit by a vehicle Tuesday morning near Thomas Jefferson Middle School while crossing Poplar Level Road, according to the district.

The student was taken to the hospital and was "alert and conscious," according to Carolyn Callahan, a JCPS spokesperson.

Officers from Louisville Metro Police responded to the scene around 7:30 a.m. and said a boy between 13 and 14 was crossing the road outside of the crosswalk at Naomi Drive from west to east when he was struck by an SUV going northbound, according to LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell.

The student was taken to Norton Children's Hospital and did not appear to be critically injured, police said.

Neither the driver or passenger of the SUV were injured, and the driver remained at the scene, police said.
