JD Davison shares reaction to being drafted by Celtics originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston
JD Davison is excited to get to work with the Boston Celtics.
The Alabama product was selected by the C's in the second round (No. 53 overall) of the 2022 NBA Draft. Judging by his tweets shortly after the pick, he's thrilled with where he landed.
On Tuesday, Davison opened up about what went through his mind after being drafted by Boston.
"When I got my name called by the Celtics, when my agent called me and said the Celtics got you, it was just like, you're going to be in an organization where they win," he said. "So it was just really important to where I know I can come in here and get better every day and just come here and win. I was very happy."
Davison averaged 8.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.3 assists in 33 games for the Crimson Tide last season. The athletic point guard believes he'll be a perfect fit for the defensive-minded Celtics.
"In Boston, you really gotta play defense. They're one of, I think the best, defense in the league," Davison added. "So you gotta come in here and be a dog. So I think I can help them improve on that and just be a dog on the defensive end."
Green Teamers will get to see Davison in action when the Las Vegas Summer League begins on Saturday. Tip-off for the opener vs. the Miami Heat is set for 5:30 p.m. ET.
